“Pressure Makes Diamonds” General George S. Patton The training
mantra of the IDF teaches that only by operating on the very edge
of capability and safety can one maximize their effort and grow.
In this DVD training series, the IDF ideology is combined with a
“trial by fire” to train one to achieve greatness. Drills: The
drills in this DVD are used by the IDF, Israeli National ,
and the Ministry of Defense and are both unit specific and/or
training course specific. Each drill is reality-based on a
counter terrorism scenario and begins with an intense physical
exertion (a set, repeatable, and measurable, physical stressor).
Time and accuracy standards are maintained and clearly tracked
throughout the entire process. Each drill is timed to include all
breaks and weapon manipulations. Accuracy is held at a
standard of 100% and clearly tracked as well. Drills range from
simple to complex and can be performed at either an indoor
shooting range or an outdoor facility. Stressors: Combat without
stress does not exist. This is not just marksmanship it is battle
and simply being a fast does not make one a successful
warrior. In order to quickly replicate physiological combat
stress, the following exercises were performed immediately prior
to the drills: Burpees, Kettle Bell 70lbs, Pull-ups, Clapping
Pushups, Punching bag, Sprints. Filming: Two cameras were
utilized to film the drills: one for close-ups and one for the
overall view of the performance. It is necessary for the viewer
to both see and understand there are no breaks or cuts between
the exercises/stressors and the shooting and targets. For
example: you see a blank target of a given size and distance in
the background, then in the foreground the shooter performs the
stress exercises and immediately the shooting drill begins with
the sound of the timer. The camera then walks up to the
targets to see the hits as well as showing the time performed.
Before each drill, a verbal explanation of what will be performed
is given with an on-screen rundown of distance and targets.
Following each drill a detailed synopsis of the entire drill
including draw time, breaks, magazine change time, stress
parameters, distances, target sizes, s fired, accuracy, etc.
is given. Again we designed this to be measurable, easily
duplicated, and functional for training the best counter-terror
fighters in the world. Targets: All targets are realistic to
combating terrorism. We use A4 (8.5X11inch) paper over a humanoid
figure because it is readily available, non-descriptive, cheap,
and the appropriate size. A piece of A4 is approximately equal to
center mass (placed over the chest extends from the base of the
neck to the navel and between the shoulders). The only way to
stop a terrorist, is to physically shut down his body so it can
no longer function. The most effective way of doing that is to
cause as much traumatic damage as possible in the shortest a
of time to its vital organs. The goal of this training is to
teach you to point your weapon at center mass and pull the
trigger as fast as you can without pause/hesitation/stopping
until the desired result is achieved—the terrorist hitting the
floor. No matter the size of the person or the way they are
facing, the organs are all the same size and in the same location
in the adult human body--covered by the piece of A4 paper.
Additionally, other targets such as a steel torso, a suicide
bombers head, and a terrorist head exposed behind a hostage. The
Weapons: It is important for your training to mimic reality and
for that reason we only use duty issue weapons and calibers, not
modified. In this DVD we use 3 weapons; a Lewis Machine and Tool
M4 that was built to IDF specifications to mimic the exact
I used in the Israeli Army. A Glock model 22 pistol
chambered in .40 caliber and a Glock model 17C chambered in 9mm.
