The design of Jakes-Rakes pond weed rakes has been perfected over many years at our own Carleton Hill Fishery and many others including the legendary (but at times v.weedy) Redmire Pool. This model is 24 inches wide and therefor twice the size of other pond weed rakes and is designed specifically for more extensive weed clearing situations. The double sided rake head is cut from 3mm mild steel using plasma profiling technology to produce a strong rake with perfectly smooth edges. The head measures 24" and has 24 x 2.5" pointed teeth on each side, that dig into the silty Lake bed and remove most species of weed by the roots. At just 1.8kg they can be thrown with a little practice up to 20meteres whilst heavy enough to sink into the silt and remove weed by the roots (see photo of pile of weed removed the white roots are clearly visible). Particularly effective against the prolific Canadian pond weed (Elodea species) and Fennel-leaved pond weed (Potamogetan species) as well as blanket weed and many others. Each one is individually manufactured in the UK from British materials by a British craftsman. Each Rake comes with 20 metres of 6mm Nylon Rope attached to the rake via a galvanised steel shackle and splicing thimble to prevent wear on the rope with the splicing protected by heavy-duty shrink-tube and each rake is ready to use straight out of the box! Whether you want to remove a sub-marine forest of Canadian pond weed or simply run a rake through a swim once to stir it up and get the bottom feeders fizzing Jakes-Rakes are by far the best available anywhere. I have also found that they are extremely effective at removing autumn debris and lost lines from your pond. Each rake is finished in a subtle dark green to give years of service. We have kept all 40 pegs at Carleton Hill Fishery clear of weed and entirely fishable for the last fifteen years with just one of these.
